Whatever you do, do not do not finish

These were the wise words of Inspirational Steve, who managed to complete a Half Ironman in excruciating pain a couple of weeks ago.  He said he couldn't bear to have the horrible initials DNF after his name instead of a time.  I don't know how he felt about being called "Steph" though.....

Today I was supposed to swim a mile in one of those London Docks.  "Swim like a fish" Inspirational Steve said, in his inspirational way.  I obviously misheard.  The night before was a birthday bash of a very good friend, the Absta, and I drank like a fish.

I woke up this morning just in time to get the train to London.  My head wasn't talking to me.  Every time I moved the whole room moved with me. But I heard Inspirational Steve's wise words in my head - whatever you do, do not DNF.

I didn't DNF.

I DNS'd instead.
