I managed about 10 minutes in the sea today before I came back out again and lay down like a beached whale. Pathetic.
I lay on the (uncomfortable stony) beach and had a few words with myself.
I know that I can't train properly for the running bit of a triathlon because I have a ligament-y problem in my foot. It's official. My Doctor told me. He also pointed out that I have a bunion and ganglion-y things too and was pretty astounded that I could still walk. The official advice is sit around on a sofa with my leg up in the air, and let CS do everything for me. For six weeks.
Now it's a well documented fact that I can't do mental maths. However without even needing a calculator, I'm pretty sure that Inspirational Steve's triathlon is less than six weeks to go.
Bummer.
So as I was lying on the (uncomfortable stony) beach earlier, having a few words with myself, I thought about a lot of things. Yes, cake was one of them, and ow, uncomfortable stones, was another one, but so was this annoying thought that first appeared in my school science report and occasionally rears its ugly head at inopportune moments ever since. Must try harder.
There's a very good chance that when it comes to triathlons, I might DNF. I might DNS too, but I promise I will NEVER DNT ever again. (The T stands for Try by the way. I have to write that because I know I will forget next time I read this)
I got back in the water, and swam for another half an hour.
| Yes, it was really cold. And yes, my bum looks big in this. It looks big in everything. That's because it is big. |
